U.S. Senate Will Vote on Democrats’
Health Care Bill on Saturday

Call Oregon’s U.S. Senators TODAY, tell them NO

to the prospect of trillions of dollars in additional debt

The Democrat leadership in the U.S. Senate is trying to push their government-run health care bill through the Senate for a vote this Saturday, November 20th at 8:00PM.

Please take a few minutes today to contact the offices of Senators Wyden and Merkley and tell them to vote NO on the Democrats’ health care bill that will add trillions of dollars to the national debt.

Time is running out to make your voice heard!  Here are 10 things you should know abut the Democrats’ health care bill.

Here are the contact numbers for Oregons’ Democrat Senators:

Sen. Ron Wyden
Washington, D.C. Office:  202-224-5244
Portland Office:  503-326-7525

Sen. Jeff Merkley
Washington, D.C. Office:  202-224-3753
Portland Office:  503-326-3386

It would also help to call and make the same points with these two Democrat Senators who are critically important to defeating Saturday’s vote:

Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR)
Washington D.C. Office: 202-224-4843

Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE)
Washington D.C. Office: 202-224-6551

You can also call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask to be connected to their offices.

Make your voice heard.  With enough pressure, Oregonians could help to turn the tide on this dangerous health care reform.

by Cascade Policy Institute: Jacob Szeto
November 19, 2009

According to Recovery.gov, the U.S. government’s official website for data related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Oregon has a total of nine new congressional districts. That’s eight more than Oregon is projected to have after the 2010 census.

These nine phantom Congressional districts include: 00, 14th, 8th, 16th, 60th, 21st, 6th, 36th and 39th.

Pew ‘peril’ report misses the point
Editorial, November 13, 2009

By now, most Oregonians are probably aware of our state’s inclusion in another “worst of” list. This one, compiled by The Pew Center on the States, examines economic conditions and related policies in nine states that approach the gold standard for mayhem set by our neighbor to the south. It’s called “Beyond California: States in Fiscal Peril.”

Such reports follow a basic script, and this one’s no different. They quantify conditions, which in Oregon’s case consist largely of eye-popping unemployment, combined with a massive drop in state tax collections.

The $1.9 Trillion Gimmick
November 18, 2009
The Democrats’ ‘doc fix’ for Medicare payments would shock Madoff.

What passes for a joke on Capitol Hill these days is that Bernie Madoff, given his experience managing Ponzi schemes, should be put in charge of the federal budget. Nancy Pelosi & Co. seem to have taken it as a serious suggestion.

Any day now, the House is expected to vote on a $210 billion fiscal swindle that will prevent automatic cuts in Medicare payments to doctors. The entitlement’s price controls are scheduled to fall by 21.5% in January and another 2% every year after that under a formula known as the sustainable growth rate, and eliminating the SGR was the price the American Medical Association demanded in return for its endorsement of the House health-care bill that passed earlier this month.
