Romney Talks Economy on Meet the Press, Hannity, CNN

Governor Romney on Meet the Press

This month Governor Romney was the go-to source on the economy. He appeared on Meet the Press, Hannity, and State of the Union with John King. He made three central points: 1) we need to stop funding the economy with public sector debt; 2) we need to end TARP and use the money to start paying down that debt; and 3) forget about a second stimulus, we need to re-tool the job incentives in the first stimulus.

In an op-ed in USA Today, Romney wrote:

Like other presidents before him, Barack Obama inherited a recession. But unlike them, he has made it worse, not better.

His failure to stem the unemployment tide should not have been a surprise. With no experience whatsoever in the world of employment and business formation, he had no compass to guide his path. Instead, he turned over much of his economic recovery agenda to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, themselves nearly as inexperienced in the private sector as he. Congress gave him and them everything they asked for, including a history-making three-quarters of a trillion dollar stimulus.

Romney Supports Scott Brown for Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown

A special election to replace Ted Kennedy in the United States Senate will be held on January 19th. State Senator Scott Brown is running a determined campaign to make history by becoming the first Republican Senator from Massachusetts in 30 years.

Scott’s election would shock the country and send a strong message that business as usual in Washington is coming to an end. He would bring badly-needed fiscal restraint to an out-of-control budget process that is adding trillions of dollars to our national debt.

If he is successful, Scott will be the crucial 41st vote against President Obama’s healthcare bill when it comes back to the Senate for final passage.
