Alley Wins Dorchester Straw Poll

Wins bell-weather support from largest Dorchester gathering in history

Seaside, OR – Allen Alley, candidate for the Republican nomination for Oregon Governor, won the all-important Dorchester straw poll this morning, signaling building momentum in his campaign.  The vote was 225 for Allen Alley, 165 for Chris Dudley, and 47 for John Lim.

“I am humbled and excited about this important vote of confidence from Republican voters.  Oregon is ready for a new direction.  My message of economic growth and job creation, coupled with a strong need to reign in the unsustainable budget path our state is on, is winning support across the state,” said Alley.

Alley displayed a deep understanding of Oregon’s fiscal and economic problems and provided strong, innovative ideas to fix them at the gubernatorial debate on Friday.    That changed many minds at the convention as Republican voters said they were looking for a candidate with strong executive and business experience who also has the ability to win over independent and Democrat voters.

“Republican voters are looking for two things: a person with the ability to affect change in Salem through the strength of their ideas and experience, and somebody who can win this fall.  That’s Allen Alley and he won over Republican voters today,” said State Representative John Huffman.

Allen Alley, a businessman with 30 years experience in starting and growing companies, was the Republican nominee for State Treasurer in 2008.  He resides in Lake Oswego with his wife Debbie and their three children.
