AFP: Take Action Now!! Help AFP Stop Voter Fraud in Oregon!

AFP Oregon
Can you help AFP ensure that only votes from legal voters are counted this May? The federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA) requires a voter to provide certain documents that help identify that they are eligible to vote in the United States.  Ensuring that only legal voters cast ballots is an important aspect of ballot security and preventing voter fraud in Oregon’s easily-defrauded “vote by mail” system.

AFP Members are asked to send a written request to their County Clerk, asking to be notified of the total number of ballots received from HAVA non-compliant voters in the May 18th Primary election.  Any voter who is non-HAVA compliant may not have his or her vote counted for in any election for federal office.

AFP is concerned that we cannot rely on County election boards to be diligent in this regard.  Members should make a point of asking for the ballots of non-HAVA compliant voters to be set aside and to have independent monitors (perhaps including willing AFP Members) observe the opening of those ballots AFTER election day.

Please also consider visiting your nearest ballot drop site just before 8:00 pm on May 18th to ensure that ballots are NOT being collected after 8:00 pm on election day.  Late ballots, if accepted, must go into a separate envelope so those voters can be credited for trying, but their votes cannot be included in the final vote tallies.  Plan on taking a video camera to have a record of whether the ballot drop site you visit is closed promptly at 8:00 pm on May 18th.

Please click here to view the address of your County Clerk/Elections office to send in your letter.  Your County Clerk will also be able to provide you with a list of ballot drop sites – these are also frequently listed on your County’s website, if one exists.  (If for some reason the above link does not work, this information is viewable on the Oregon Secretary of State’s website on the “Elections” page at www.sos.state.or.us).

If you have any questions, please email Ruth Bendl at [email protected] Thank you for helping ensure ballot integrity in Oregon.
