Senate Votes on ObamaCare Repeal

Header

The vote to repeal ObamaCare was only the first step in the process to free the country from this legislation.  The new GOP House took a courageous stand repealing the bill and all 47 GOP senators stood by them.  Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to overturn the bill.  However, on the very same day the Senate voted to repeal the onerous 1099 reporting requirement that would bury job creators in paperwork.  Obama’s bureaucrats at HHS have already issued over 700 waivers to exempt their political allies from ObamaCare’s harshest provision.  No one can claim with a straight face that this is a good bill.  States are suing; businesses are fleeing and legislators are taking it apart piece-by-piece.  While the Supreme Court will have the last word on ObamaCare’s constitutionality, our federal representatives, state lawmakers and most importantly grassroots activists like you can still do a lot to end ObamaCare.  Stay tuned for more AFP updates on this issue.

Tell your legislators to end regulatory overreaching by executive agencies!
The REINS Act, H.R. 10, would begin to restore Congress’s rightful place as the creator of rules that govern the country. Under the proposed law, executive agencies would be required to submit any major rule proposals to Congress for a vote and Presidential signature. Activist of the Month – Dee Park

Header

Dee Park is the leader and co-founder of Moore TEA Citizens, a citizen activist group in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Under Dee’s leadership, the group has grown in size from three members in early 2009 to over 1,700 today, making them one of the largest citizen activist groups in North Carolina.

Dee and the Moore TEA Citizens have been valuable partners with Americans for Prosperity’s North Carolina chapter. AFP can always depend on Dee to generate turnout at state rallies and fill buses of activists for trips to Washington, DC. She has also helped new citizen activist groups get started by sharing with them what she has learned as leader in the tea party movement.

Prior to joining the movement, Dee was a teacher and small business owner with her husband of 30 years, Bro, who is also active in Moore TEA Citizens. While she had been an activist in local issues for years, Dee decided to get even more involved when she saw the trend of out of control government spending only getting worse, especially when the current administration entered office. “We need to do whatever we can to reclaim the America we love”, she says.

Dee, thanks for all that you do. You are AFP’s Activist of the Month!
