GAA: Rush Limbaugh called these 45 minutes “epic!”

Grassroots Action Alert May 25, 2011
In This Issue:

1. Limbaugh on “epic” speech
2. Debt Ceiling vote next week in House
3. Epic on Palin

1. Limbaugh: This was “epic”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Tuesday delivered a speech to a combined session of Congress where he schooled our President, members of Congress and the world in what Rush Limbaugh characterized as lessons in “commitment… confidence… statecraft and leadership.”

Rush said, “This was an epic, epic speech.” (Go here to watch.)

Netanyahu’s speech followed several contentious days between him and President Obama after Obama called for Israel to retreat to its 1967 borders as the starting point for Middle East peace negotiations with Palestine.

Netanyahu was interrupted by applause over 50 times by members in attendance where he, in no uncertain terms, declared that Jerusalem will never be divided again, referring to the call by Obama to retreat to the 1967 borders. Obama’s proposal put Israel in a precarious position to re-establish indefensible borders.

American citizens are also expressing their support for Israel, with more than 80,000 signing Grasfire’s petition in less than a week.

ACTION: Grassfire Nation has launched the “I Stand With Israel” petition — giving grassroots Americans a platform with which to demand the President reaffirm America’s clear and unquestioned support of Israel. To say, “I Stand With Israel” and sign the petition go here.

2. Debt ceiling vote in House next week

House Republican leaders plan to hold an “up or down” vote next week on whether or not to raise the federal debt ceiling.

The vote has already sparked controversy. Democrats who have called for a “clean” debt ceiling vote contend this is a partisan tactic. Republicans have drawn a line saying that they oppose raising the debt ceiling without a framework for coupling it with substantial spending cuts. House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, (D-MD) said, “I will not vote for a clean debt limit extension if no Republicans vote for it and instead use it just to demagogue.”

Outside the beltway, Americans are fed up with out-of-control federal spending and realize this is a spending problem, not an income problem. Next week’s debt ceiling vote is the first of several expected crucial votes leading up to the early August debt ceiling crisis.

ACTION: If you oppose the ever increasing size of government and unending levels of debt, sign the “I Oppose Raising the Debt Ceiling” and have your petition delivered to the House before next week’s vote.

3. “Epic” Palin Coming To Iowa As Prez Prelude?

Real Clear Politics is reporting that a new film documentary of Sarah Palin will debut in Iowa next month, perhaps as part of a repositioning of Palin for a presidential run.

RCP calls the documentary, called “The Undefeated,” “a two-hour-long, sweeping epic” that was “screened privately for Sarah and Todd Palin last Wednesday.” RCP adds that “the film is poised to serve as a galvanizing prelude to Palin’s prospective presidential campaign – an unconventional reintroduction to the nation that she and her political team have spent months eagerly anticipating, even as Beltway Republicans have largely concluded that she won’t run.”

Campaign Trail Report’s Eric Odom sees the documentary’s release as a “logical strategy” for a prelude to a Palin White House run.

“It seems totally plausible that by June, movement activists will have either settled on supporting someone like Herman Cain or they’ll be disgruntled over lack of choices in the GOP primary field. It provides a perfect scenario for Palin to enter the race with a fresh image, upgraded message and renewed marketing campaign.”
