Obama’s 2012 Budget

Obama’s budget once again appears to be fiscally irresponsible and is yet another failed promise
  • The deficit for fiscal year 2012 is expected to be $1.33 trillion, marking four years of deficits in excess of $1 trillion
  • The 2012 deficit is projected to be greater than the 2011 deficit
  • Obama has officially broken his promise to cut the deficit in half by the end of his term
Obama’s fiscal irresponsibility has produced massive debt
  • In three years, Obama has added $4.7 trillion to the national debt, bringing total debt to over $15.3 trillion
  • This debt destabilizes the economy, threatens our children’s future, and earned America its first credit downgrade
  • The national debt now exceeds U.S. GDP; it’s larger than the entire American economy
Congressional Republicans alone have fought for fiscal responsibility
  • The Democratic Senate has not passed a budget in over 1,000 days
  • President Obama has avoided every opportunity to balance the budget
  • Obama even ignored the recommendations of his own deficit reduction commission, proving it was merely a political ploy
  • In contrast, House Republicans passed a responsible budget in 2011 to ensure long-term solvency
Obama’s failed promise on the deficit has created an enormous deficit of trust
  • Having broken such a large promise, Obama’s credibility is shattered; all future promises ring hollow
  • Obama occasionally talks about cutting the debt, but it’s merely empty rhetoric
  • Obama’s hypocrisy on the budget illustrates his inability to make difficult decisions
