National Forest Management provided county funds for schools and roads until the year 2000 when the Secure Rural Schools Act of 2000 was introduced. This act gave money to counties in lieu of the money these counties once received from the harvest on the National Forest. Forest Policy Analyst Lindsay Warness will join the Eastern Oregon Patriots’ meeting to discuss this quagmire in further detail and outline some opportunities for action with regards to fiber supply for the local mills.
