Judges on the Ballot

May 1, 2012
Here is some research that Oregon Family Council has been working on to fill requests for information about the non-partisan judicial races on the ballot. Use as you see fit:

Nonpartisan State Judiciary Judge of the Supreme Court Position 3
Vote For One
Timothy J Sercombe – Democrat, supported by former Gov. Ted Kulongoski.
Nena Cook – Registered Democrat, supported by Teamsters Joint Council 37 (union) and Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund.
Richard C Baldwin – Supported by Oregon Education Association and Oregon AFSCME (both unions)

Judge of the Supreme Court Position 2
Vote For One
Dave Brewer – Is a registered Democrat and is supported by many House Republican members.

Judge of the Supreme Court Position 6
Vote For One
Virginia L Linder – Virginia Linder is a registered Democrat who lives in Salem. She is a self-described Lesbian who has a female life-partner. She is supported by the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund.

Tim Volpert – Tim Volpert is a registered Democrat who lives in Portland. He is Endorsed by many liberal Democrat officials including Suzanne Bonamici and Earl Blumenauer and is heavily involved in Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon who are part of a support group for healthcare for all and also supported Measures 66 & 67 which raised taxes on small businesses.

Allan J Arlow – Allan Arlow is a registered Democrat who lives in Portland. He ran against Jack Landau in 2010. He attends Trinity Episcopal Cathedral which is openly supportive of alternative gay and lesbian lifestyles.

James C Egan – James Egan is a registered Republican who lives in Albany. He has extensive service in the military and believes in the limitations and impartiality of the role of the judiciary and getting everything done within your budget.

Rick Haselton – is registered unaffiliated and lives in Portland. He has been previously endorsed by PEAPAC a Christian education advocacy group who works with Oregon Right to Life. Incumbent

Lynn R Nakamoto – registered Democrat lives in Portland. “Nakamoto is a past board member of the Q Center, an LGBTQ Community Center in North Portland and prepared an amicus brief in the case of Tanner v. OHSU, which expanded equal benefits to Oregon same-sex domestic partners and their families.” – The Oregonian Incumbent
